Stand-Up Comedy Workshop with Graduation Show

Prerequisite: You must be age 18 or older to participate.
This fast-paced workshop, featuring innovative joke writing exercises, is designed for both beginners and comics already working around town. The class culminates with the graduation show at the World-Famous Improv Comedy Club or a similar venue. Class goals: (1) Learn joke structure, hone your joke writing skills. (2) Generate jokes/bits/routines that reliably get big laughs. (3) Discover/clarify your persona and POV. (4) Improve performing chops. Along the way we will discuss: (1) The history and philosophy of stand-up. (2) The ever-evolving opportunities comedians have for achieving success – creatively and professionally.

Please read:  *Be advised, the graduation show for SUCWS is NOT held on the final day of class. It is held on the weekend two or three weeks after the last day of class. It is held on either a Saturday afternoon or evening, or a Sunday afternoon or evening. Students must be 18 years of age to participate in the graduation show.
