Comedy writing is not a mysterious talent reserved for those who are “naturally funny.” It’s a learnable skill that can be studied, practiced, honed, perfected. This hands-on workshop is designed for all experience levels. The class features lectures and in-class writing exercises. We will analyze humorous prose, punch-up sitcom scripts, watch movie comedies and diagram their structure. Most importantly, you’ll make an exciting discovery: Whimsical or heartfelt, silly or profound, in memoir, spoken word, sitcom, rom-com, blog, Snapchat or business presentation… all that is on your mind and in your heart can be written funny.
