NEW! Join a geographer-guide for a journey to uncover the secrets of Joshua Tree National Park, a fascinating region nestled in the Mojave Desert near Palm Springs, with bizarre rock formations, ancient twisting Joshua trees, and granite monoliths. On an easy nature walk, your guide will point out the rugged canyons that testify to the forces that shaped this land and explain how this modern landscape was born more than 100 million years ago. You will also learn about the varied plant and animal life that thrives in this desert environment. At Key’s View Lookout, marvel at the beautiful views of the Coachella Valley, extending to the Salton Sea and beyond to Mexico, then make a stop at the visitor center for an interpretive look at the area’s rich biodiversity and cultural history. Also, enjoy an included boxed lunch picnic, and a stop at Hadley’s, famous for breads, nuts, and date shakes. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along a hat and sunscreen (a sweater or light jacket is also recommended). Availability is limited, so make plans to book your tour soon! ALL registrations are final, and NO REFUNDS, CREDITS, or TRANSFERS will be given. Price is subject to change. Tours depart from SMC’s Bundy Campus on time, so please be prompt. Parking is free.
